Snart är det dags för en dag av förväntan – skolstart! På denna väldigt speciella dag har Dibbers alla skolor, inklusive Dibber International Schools, beslutat att nyinvigningen får stå tillbaka och istället vill vi skapa en så fin och trygg skolstartsdag som möjligt för våra elever.

It is soon time for that unique day of anticipation – first day of school! On this very special day, all of Dibber’s schools, including Dibber International Schools, have decided that the grand opening will have to wait and instead we want to create a joyful and safe first day of school for our students.

”Vi är otroligt stolta och glada över beskedet att alla tillstånd att bedriva undervisning delvis på engelska nu har kommit för samtliga av våra ”DIS” skolor. Vi kommer därför att nyinviga Dibber International School Sollentuna och Helsingborg i samband med skolstart och invigning i augusti när Nacka öppnar upp som Dibber International School Nacka, säger Sara Lundberg skolchef på Dibber Sverige”
 
När Dibber startade upp resan med vår internationella profil Dibber International Schools var många tankar, processer och handlingar helt rätt och väl förankrade. Det ser vi bevis på i verksamheterna idag. Dessvärre hade andra processer helt missats vilket gjorde att starten för våra internationella skolor inte blev som vi hade hoppats. Nu har vi däremot kommit både i kapp och, om vi ska våga sticka ut hakan lite, längre än vad vi hade kunnat hoppas för bara ett år sedan. Idag har vi ett oerhört kompetent team som arbetar på och tillsammans med dessa skolor och vi ser att vi tillsammans ger våra elever en skola för världen och för framtiden. Det är vi inom Dibber oerhört stolta över.

Dibber International School är en del av Dibber Sverige och har idag 3 skolor i Sollentuna, Nacka och Helsingborg. Skolans pedagogiska profil vilar på 4 pelare:

Till hösten slår alla skolor upp sina portar för nya elever och med alla pelare på plats.

Skolorna ligger i tre geografiskt spridda områden men kärnan och visionen är den samma för alla våra DIS skolor. ”Vi ska få världens viktigaste värden att växa” och vi ska göra det genom att väcka elevernas nyfikenhet och lust till att lära och uttrycka sig.

Vi har valt att ansöka om kandidatstatus för IB då vi anser att IB:s pedagogiska modell väl kompletterar den svenska läroplanen samt tillför viktiga värden för våra elever. Eleverna läser både enligt svensk läroplan LGR11 och enligt IB programmet*. Att undervisa enligt IB programmet innebär bland annat att undervisningen är tematisk och indelad i så kallade ”Unit of inquiry”. Med en genomtänkt pedagogik ges eleverna möjlighet att utforska och att lära sig i sampel med andra och med hela världen som arena. Med detta arbetssätt vill vi bidra till att skapa världsmedborgare som tar ett aktivt ansvar för sig själv, andra och hela vår värld.

En utökad timplan i musik ger eleverna möjlighet att lära ett nytt instrument och de får möjligheten att känna kraften av att spela tillsammans i en orkester. Vi tror, precis som forskning visar, att när båda hjärnhalvorna samspelar lär vi bättre.

Att vara en skola i tiden innebär att vi också behöver erbjuda eleverna en god teknologisk standard och en innovativ skolgång. Det tar vi på allvar. Att vi nu kan ge alla våra DIS-elever en tvåspråkig undervisning och genom det öka deras möjligheter att bli en del av en global framtid är vi oerhört stolta över!

“We are extremely proud to have received the authorization from Sweden’s School Inspection to teach in both Swedish and English for all of our Dibber International Schools as of August 2021. As a result, in combination with the start of the 2021-2022 academic year, we will hold an opening ceremony for both DIS Sollentuna and Helsingborg at the same time that DIS Nacka opens up as a DIS school for the first academic year,” says Sara Lundberg, Superintendent of Dibber Schools.

Many hours of planning and hard work went into the roll-out of the Dibber International School concept in Sweden. This planning and effort can be seen in the quality educational programs that are being delivered in the current DIS schools. Unfortunately, there were misses and hiccups along the way which impacted the startup of the DIS schools in ways we had preferred to avoid. But today we received an important piece in the puzzle, and we can now lift our heads high and be proud of the DIS school concept. We have very competent staff that works collaboratively within and between schools to ensure that our students are enriched and supported in their learning journey.

Dibber International Schools are a part of Dibber Sweden and currently operates three DIS schools: Sollentuna, Nacka and Helsingborg.

This fall we will open the doors to our students with all four DIS pillars in place. Although the DIS school are spread out geographically the core mission is the same for all, “we make the world’s most important assets grow” and we do that by inspiring and engaging student’s natural curiosity and inner motivation the learn more about the world around them.

We have chosen to apply to be a candidate IB (PYP & MYP) school because the IB’s philosophy and educational model compliments the Swedish national curriculum well. Student at DIS schools’ study according to the Swedish national curriculum (Lgr11) and according to IB’s pedagogic framework.

In the PYP and MYP students learn within thematic units of study where subjects are integrated together to create an authentic learning experience. This structured and student-centered pedagogical approach establishes an atmosphere for students where they can make sense the world around them together with their classmates and teachers. Students and teachers explore units of study that are relevant and meaningful to a local, but also global context to create global citizens who can act and make positive changes in their near community and in the world.

The increased teaching hours in music education lifts the arts as a valuable part of the curriculum. Through creating an opportunity for the students to learn an instrument as well as participate in an orchestra students develop fine motor skills, grit, and an ability to collaborate with their classmates to create music. Educational research points to correlations between music education and academic excellence, which is why DIS schools have chosen to place focus on music education.

Another of DIS’s four pillars is technology and innovation. To prepare students for their future lives beyond the classroom it is important to provide high quality technology equipment and teaching which integrates technology into natural points of instruction as well as creates opportunities to be innovative in the learning environment.

And now we can offer bilingual teaching to round out our four educational pillars which will give them more ability to be a global citizen in the future, which we are extremely proud of.
