After School Care (Fritids)

We take responsibility for developing each child’s passion to learn and reach their fullest potential” – These are words that an educator used to describe our pedagogical mission, an approach that permeates our after-school care.

The school’s after-school care center offers meaningful activities daily with a focus on developing social and cooperation skills. We offer everything from handicraft, art and movement to trumpet and trombone playing.

The children, together with the guardians, have the opportunity to register for activities of their choice throughout the academic year. Every day, we also offer the “Calm Room”, a room which provides calming activities such as reading, writing, or drawing. During the school holidays, themed days are arranged connected to what the students are learning within their current Unit of Inquiry.

Our after-school educators are with the students during the school day, which means that the educators can follow the students during the transition from school to after-school and follow up with their learning and development.

The aim and core content of school-age educare

The concept of an educational programme should be given a broad interpretation in school-age educare, where care, development and teaching constitute a whole.

Aim of educational programme in school-age educare

The educational programme, in school-age educare, should stimulate the pupils’ development and learning, as well as offer the pupils meaningful leisure time. This should be done through the educational programme being based on the pupils’ needs, interests and experiences, while ensuring that the pupils are continuously challenged, by inspiring them to make new discoveries. The educational programme should introduce pupils to a variety of ways of working and expressing themselves, and offer them learning environments that integrate childcare and learning.
